Children and Family Ministries

Children and their families are a very vital First Pres focus. Jesus said,
"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the
kingdom of God belongs to such as these
." (Mark 10:14)

At First Pres, our mission is to share the love of Christ with each child so they can have personal knowledge of Jesus Christ as their Savior. We supplement and support parents as they lay the spiritual foundation for their children. We equip our teachers to educate and nurture children in the Christian life in a safe and fun church environment. We believe it is important to balance Biblical knowledge with life application.

our Children and Family ministries, but if you want an overview of the

At First Pres if you have a child, there is an age appropriate educational experience designed with them in mind.

Nursery (ages birth to 2 years old) both services
Your infant is cared for during Sunday morning worship in our loving nursery staffed with dedicated workers and volunteers. Our nursery features a state-of-the-art silent pager system for contacting parents to ensure confidence and peace of mind during your worship experience. There is a more private area below the Narthex (east side of the church just outside the sanctuary) for nursing mothers. Parents of infants are encouraged to take advantage of our nursery during worship services.
Preschool Class (ages 2 – 5 years old) both services
Your preschooler will experience a warm and inviting atmosphere as they learn about Jesus in a way they can relate to and understand. Children engage stories of faith through a variety of creative expression certain to evoke conversation on the drive/walk home! Parents of young children are encouraged to take advantage of our programs during worship services.
Sunday School (ages 6 - 6th grade) both services
A gifted team of volunteers dedicated to sharing the Gospel of God’s love guides your child through a strategic curriculum aimed at helping your child form a solid foundation of Biblical faith communicated in a manner appropriate with your child’s age. Kids third grade and older have the opportunity to stay in the sanctuary with their families for the first part of the service, then are dismissed to their classes at the Affirmation of Community/Meet and Greet time.  Third and Fourth grade can go straight to their classes as soon as they arrive. Fifth and Sixth graders are expected to start in the Worship service and go to class when dismissed.
Junior and Senior High (7th through 12th grade) during the first service only
Authentic community is such an essential element of spiritual growth that we feel it vital to engage youth throughout their entire junior and senior high journey. For many youth, this is where faith meets life, and our team of devoted volunteers and staff guide your junior high or senior high student in applying faith to the reality of everyday life. Classes are during the first service only, then the youth attend the second worship service together.
