RESET is our all church journey that will take place during the Lent. Lent is the season when followers of Jesus set aside time for spiritual reflection and growth. Every year, Lent provides us with an opportunity to “RE-SET” our priorities and deepen our relationship with the Savior. This year, we as a church community have the opportunity of doing this in partnership with the 28 members of our Confirmation Class, focusing on the Gospel of John.
Beginning March 5 and continuing through April 16, we will explore some of the most poignant passages of John’s Gospel: Chapters 12-17. This is too important to do alone. We invite you to do this in a small group, at Wednesday night Lenten dinners, on Sunday mornings, and in daily devotionals shared with your church community.
To be placed in a RESET small group complete this form.
We are looking for Hosts for RESET 2017.
Who? A host should be enthusiastic about exploring the book of John with their small group. Small groups can be your existing small group, your small group that you open to others for the 6 week period, or a new small group that meets for the 6 weeks of RESET.
What? A host provides a place for a small group to meet each week during RESET. This place can be at church or off site. Hosts do not need to "teach" but rather, they guide the small group through materials provided by the RESET team. These materials include scripture reading and discussion.
Hosts should attend a training workshop Saturday February 11 from 9am-10am in room 101 of the church. This workshop is not mandatory, but it will provide a nice overview of RESET and your role, and will allow you to ask question and your role.
When? RESET groups should meet for 1 hour, once a week starting the week of March 5h. The last week they will meet is April 9. The RESET rhythm includes the sermon on Sunday, a Monday morning email sent by the RESET team that includes prompts and challenges for the week, and a small group meeting. The small group meeting works best Wednesday through Sunday so that people have had a chance to do the prompts and challenges before the small group meets. For existing groups, it is okay to meet at your regular small group meeting time. The last challenge given to the groups is a service project. Groups will meet one more time after the last small group meeting to engage in a service project together. At the end of RESET, groups may dissolve or continue, depending on the interests of the group.
Thank you for your interest in RESET. If you would like to host a group please complete the survey here.
In His service,
The 2017 RESET Team
