Adult Ministries

We are committed to each individual's spiritual formation and discipleship. God's ultimate goal for each one of us is that we become spiritually mature by becoming more and more like Christ in our thoughts, feelings, and actions. With worship as the center of our life, we learn, connect, and serve together in various ways.

Traditional Music Ministry

Our 30-voice Chancel Choir leads worship each Sunday morning from September through June at 9:00 am, with a wide range of choral music by classical to modern-day choral and hymn writers. The choir is ably accompanied by pianist, Diane Duncan, who serves as Worship Pianist for the traditional service. The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings at 7:45 p.m., with a warm-up rehearsal at 8:15 am on Sunday mornings. All are welcome to join no matter what level of training, as we are always looking for new voices to join the ensemble! Please contact Jane Holstein if interested.

Our handbell choir, the Carillon Ringers, rehearse on Thursdays at 6:30 pm and ring for the 9:00 am service on a monthly basis and for special events and holidays. The handbells are directed by Jane Holstein, along with her husband David Weck, who directs The Agape Ringers, an auditioned, Chicago community handbell ensemble who occasionally perform concerts at First Pres.

Our Brass Ensemble rehearses on Saturday mornings at 8:30 am throughout the year and plays at the 9:00 am service once a month and for special events and holidays. If you play a brass instrument, contact Jim Richards (via the office) if you are interested in using your gift to glorify God.

Children's choirs may be included in worship periodically. Parents of interested singers should contact Jane Holstein.

Our Director of Music, Dr. Jane Holstein, leads the above groups and is an organist of national reputation. Full time, Jane is an editor with Hope Publishing Company of Carol Stream, IL. She and composer and concert pianist, Joel Raney, perform piano & organ concerts at venues throughout the country, leading professional seminars and workshops.
